Jill and George are such a lovely couple that I just can’t post enough of their photos online. She’s beautiful, he’s handsome they’re playful and it’s obvious that they are truly in love. The images you are about to see seriously look like they came right out of a movie. They were lucky enough to be able to use the backyard of a house with an amazing garden. It was a mexican themed wedding event with mexican musicians (guitarists and accordion players in uniform) and mexican food (super chicken and beef tacos, enchiladas, rice and beans).

Check out this piece of Mexican art! You can’t get any more authentic Mexican than this. I love how there’s a mini donkey pinata.

Learning the accordion would been a lot more fun, but I got stuck with learning the piano. It’s obviously not nearly as portable as an accordion.

It’s those moments before the bride and groom are about to kiss that give me butterflies in my stomach, but I have to stay focused and make sure can still take a clear photo. My hands were probably sweating profusely as I clenched onto my camera as hard as I could to keep my camera steady.

After scrounging through his pocket for a minute to find the ring, he finally found it, phew!

I absolutely love this shot of Jill and George as they gaze into each others’ eyes a second before they enjoy their first kiss as husband and wife.

Here comes mom running towards the newly weds for a big family hug.

Weddings reunite family and friends. There was never a dull moment at this wedding!

I caught this photo of George looking at Mom and Jill making her speech while the sun was setting. I believe they call this the Magic Hour in photography.

    Sunset Wedding Photography

Another amazing shot of Jill and George. You can truly see how happy they are, they’ll be able to relive this moment forever.

    Black and White Wedding Photography

I forget how many poems George wrote for Jill, but WOW, it was such a sweet poem. Everyone was literally watery eyed at this moment. George is also a phenomenal speaker, which made this poem even more touching.

Family hugs cant get better than this. The gentleman on the lower right side is actually in a wheelchair, so I had them give each other a great big hug for this shot. You can almost hear the laughter, feel the warmth and the happiness they must be feeling at this moment.

I’d say this was a perfect evening for Jill and George as they joined together as husband and wife. They wanted a simple backyard wedding and invited their closest family and friends to join them on their special day. I had a fabulous time photographing them and wish the best for their future.

For Elise and Robert, it was celebration of their love with family and friends. It was different to see such different personalities join together. Elise has an infinite amount of energy while Robert is a laid back kind of guy. It kind of reminds me of my relationship with my girlfriend. They were a really fun couple to work with and I wish the best for their future.

Here some of my favorite shots of the day…

I’ve been wanting to photograph an engagement session at the Fullerton Metrolink Train Station for a while now. Jill and George were going to have a Mexican themed wedding so it only made sense to have a Mexican themed engagement session here. I was so excited going into this engagement session. They were late about 30 minutes, so that set us back a little with, but it was ok. When they showed up and I met them for the first time, I already knew from their personalities that it was going to be a wonderful set of shots. Anyway, I present to you, for the last time as boyfriend and girlfriend, Jill and George.

    Stylz Studios

    Posted in: Blog

Stylez Studios is located in West Covina, ca and I got to visit their dance studio for a glimpse of what it takes to become America’s Top Dance Crew. There were huge artistic murals everywhere! Dancers of all ages come from all over to practice their moves, it was inspiring to see so many talented dancers in one room. Sometimes, I wish I could dance, but from past experiences, I just end up making a fool out of myself. Haha…

We did an awesome urban photoshoot around Costa Mesa with a couple who were great models right before their wedding. What I love about being a wedding photographer is simply, documenting love. Sure, I love all the details and the fashion and the big parties, but it’s the love and the passion each couple shares that I want them to remember from their special day. It was a perfect day and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting sun for their photos.

Happy Easter! It’s about time for wedding season.

I wanted to create an ad that promotes my photojournalistic style. The tagline, “It _ _ _ _ _ _ here . . .” leaves it up to the viewer to fill in the blanks. I decided to keep it simple and leave the rest up to imagination. This photo was taken by me, of course, and the newly weds were captured with genuine smiles.

This ad will be placed in the next issue of The Buzz Weekly (www.thebuzzweekly.com). The small local publication is a placed in several local business establishments in Fullerton, CA. This is my first print ad for photography, so I’m excited to see the results of doing something like this.

Dave Chihuly, the world’s premier glass artist, is one of my favorite artists and inspires me to capture moments that remind of his memorable exhibitions. I wish to one day have the opportunity to take more photos of his unique artworks around the world. His glassblown installations are filled with vibrant colors and gradients inspired by natural, from flowers to animals.. Most of his pieces are warm with vivid oranges and yellows, but his recent pieces have been cooler blue shades. When illuminated, his exhibits transform an entire room into a lively magical dreamlike world in slow motion.

He hes been commissioned to design and create over 150 public installations around the world from California, to his more recent installation at the Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai.

A little more about Dale Chihuly:

Dale Chihuly is most frequently lauded for revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement by expanding its original premise of the solitary artist working in a studio environment to encompass the notion of collaborative teams and a division of labor within the creative process.  However, Chihuly’s contribution extends well beyond the boundaries both of this movement and even the field of glass: his achievements have influenced contemporary art in general.  Chihuly’s practice of using teams has led to the development of complex, multipart sculptures of dramatic beauty that place him in the leadership role of moving blown glass out of the confines of the small, precious object and into the realm of large-scale contemporary sculpture.  In fact, Chihuly deserves credit for establishing the blown glass form as an accepted vehicle for installation and environmental art beginning in the late twentieth century and continuing today.”

You already use Google for all of your search engine needs, you probably use Google Maps to drive from point A to B to C and you know that every other search engine feeds off of Google. Now what’s holding you back from using Gmail?

Ahhh…so you’re used to what you’re currently using and don’t like change.

I’ll outline the top 5 things I like about Gmail, maybe even 10 if I can find more.

    1. ACCESS ANYWHERE. Gmail is a cloud type of program, which means that I can access this from anywhere around the world where there is internet access and see the same information, from any computer. Whether you’re on your iPhone or your best friend’s blackberry or using a stranger’s laptop at Starbucks, you can access your Gmail account.
    2. COLLAPSES MULTIPLE EMAILS. Gmail collapses all those emails from you treating email like it’s a chat program. 10 separate emails?!! No problem. Gmail bunches those emails up for you in one convenient email. Consider it an organized mess.

Collapse Multiple EmailsThis is the best way to keep multiple emails together.
    3. GMAIL FILTERS SPAM FOR YOU. Gmail does an excellent job filtering spam out of your mailbox and into the spam folder. I’ve compared this with Yahoo’s mail service and it doesnt even compare. Of course, there will be some spammers who will break through the gate keep, but I’ll show you how to take care of those next.
    4. SEND THE REST OF THE SPAM TO HELL. There are still email spammers out there who do not provide a link to unsubscribe from the emails they persistently send. There’s a quick fix to this. Send every email you get from them directly to the trash. Gmail lets you do this through their smart “filters”.
I've been getting emailsl from these annoying people and send them straight to the trash.

I've been getting emailsl from these annoying people and send them straight to the trash.

    5. PREVIEW ATTACHMENTS. Gmail does a seamless job allowing users to preview attachments they’ve received from others before having to download it.  Whether the file is a jpg or a word document, you can preview the file before downloading it.

See what you're getting yourself into with attachments before downloading them.

See what you're getting yourself into with attachments before downloading them.

    6. DOWNLOAD ALL ATTACHMENTS AT ONCE. By clicking “Download all attachments”, you’ll download all of the attachments you received in a convenient zip file. This makes everything sooooo much easier and save sooooo much more time. Y?…..YYYY?…..That’s right ymail (yahoo mail), I hate you for this reason.
    7. CHAT WITH FRIENDS. Many small to mid-sized companies use Gmail now, so if you’re not using Gmail, it’s probably because you’ve been loyal to your existing outdated email provider. With Gmail, I can see who’s online and instead of sending an email for something quick, I can just send over an Instant Message (IM) and chat in real-time.
    8. LABELS. Gmail’s labels are a way of narrowing down your emails by category. Imagine if you could organize your refrigerator by food groups, but change your mind and want to organize it by color, labels allow you to put multiple labels on your emails. Sometimes, emails overlap in categories. Sure, you can categorize an email, but labels allow you to slap on multiple categories on to one email. Mixing a friend’s email with a business email has never been easier to categorize.
    9. CUSTOMIZABLE CANNED RESPONSES. Canned responses allow me to create complete proposals and add email signatures on the whim.

Dear –NAME–,Thank you again for all your help, and I look forward to talking with you in the coming months.

      Warm regards,

      Jason Mark

    10. UPLOADING ATTACHMENTS. Once you decide to upload an attachment, Gmail automatically starts uploaded the file while you’re typing up the rest of your email. Unlike other email software, you won’t have to wait for it to finish uploading once you’re ready to send your email. In a nutshell, you save time and once again, you know that time is money.
    11. MULTIPLE EMAILS CONSOLIDATED. Consolidate all those emails from different domains that you own. (i.e. photos@jasonmark.com, jmark@latimes.com, jasonm@wordpress.com)

For those who don’t know me, I designed JasonMark.com from the ground up.  No, I am not a professional web designer, but I’ve learned a lot from trial and error and everything you see on the website is self taught. And of course, I’m always open to suggestions from others, but this post is not about getting help. What I really want to do is answer a question that I get all the time.

“What did you use to make your website?”

There are several parts to this question. In short, I used Dreamweaver CS3 for the layout, Adobe Illustrator for the vector graphics, and of course Adobe Photoshop for the photography. However, the real secret is the web hosting service that I use, which provides me with the customer service I have learned to love, a plethora of useful tools and tons of knowledge just from other faithful web geniuses.

The BEST and MY FAVORITE web hosting service is DreamHost.com. I am able to use the same hosting service with them and sign up for several domain names. I’m a visual person, so for those of you who don’t understand the lingo…

This is by far the best all-inclusive hosting service available.

In short, multiple domains, one hosting service.

    i.e. (3 domains using 1 hosting service)
    “domain1.com” — |
    “domain2.com” — > “hosting 1″
    “domain3.com” — |

    Here’s why I absolutely love DreamHost.com:

    1. Their packages are all inclusive and provide the regular joe schmoe web designer with all the space we need.
    2. Their customer service is exceptionally amazing. I’ve received same day personalized emails with learning the how to utilizethe tools they offer.
    3. Transferring websites and registering new domain names is a breeze.
    4. If you need a blog, like this one you’re reading, I installed it with one click, there are several one-click installed programs available for DreamHost.com followers. WordPress is a free software available to anybody looking create a fully customizable blog, but unless you have some programming knowledge, it’s a real *itch to install, but DreamHost makes it easy with their one-click installs.
